Since there are over 300 wars going on around the globe at this time I would make the observation that war is not obsolete since they still happen.

I would hope it is getting obsolete, but it is clearly still being used. The figure of 300 wars seems a bit much, though. That's nearly 3 per UN country. I looked it up by asking how many wars are going on today, and it seems there are about 30, and almost none of these are active wars between two countries. World War 1 Compared to world war 2 was a war with very obsolete weapons, machinery, and equipment. world war 2 composed the best weapons, aircraft, tanks, artillery, and equipment of both wars.
Anti-Ship Missiles
Militarily, WWI saw the introduction of tanks and airplanes into warfare. This rendered the tactics of "trench warfare" obsolete in later wars, as the practice produced a catastrophic number of human casualties during WWI.
World War I was fought the same way as earlier wars, only the technology had advanced making that form of combat obsolete. The rapid fire machine gun, explosive shells with poison gas, and the tank all made their appearance in World War I. The age of the cavalry charge was over.
An abstinence of war is an obsolete phrase for a truce.
