Usually not. State laws differ, but if the work was done by an uninsured plumber or you did it yourself, you probaly have no legal case against your insurance company. You might be able to sue a plumber for damages if it is proven it was negligence.

Is water damage from a broken pipe usually covered?

It depends on what's written in your insurance policy. For example, sometimes water damage that occurred gradually over time, from a small, slow leak, will be covered, and other times it won't be. It may also depend on how the pipe got broken in the first place. It is best to contact your insurance provider as soon as possible after you discover water damage and to take steps to prevent further damage from occurring to your property. This usually involves stopping water from flowing into your property from the main water shutoff, and removing standing water or suctioning water from saturated carpets and rugs.

Is condensation damage covered in home insurance?

It depends on your policy but probably not. Most policies only cover water damaged caused by a broken pipe. Look at the Perils Insured Against section of your policy to determine if your loss is covered.

Will the homeowners insurance company pay for damage caused by a a busted pipe in a home?

If your policy has coverage for accidental water discharge, the resulting damage would be covered but only after the owner has repaired the damaged pipe. If your pipe busted as the result of a covered peril such as fire, wind hail etc (see your schedule of covered perils) then the pipe itself would also be covered.

What is a homeowners obligation to homeowners insurance after a water pipe breaks in the home?

The home owner must notify the insurer of a covered loss in a timely manner as defined by your home insurance policy and must take prudent (reasonable) action to mitigate damages. Examples of mitigation efforts might be, Shut off water supply, call a plumber, remove other items from harms way. If you need to call a plumber, you should keep receipts for reimbursement purposes in the event the broken water pipe and resulting damage is covered under a peril listed on your policy, and assuming the plumbers bill exceeds your policy deductible. Covered perils are typically Fire, Wind, Hail etc. as detailed on your policy. Broken pipes resulting from ground movement, deterioration from age or normal wear and tear are considered home maintenance issues and are not covered perils under a homeowners insurance policy. Although the broken pipe itself may or may not be covered depending on the cause of the break. ensuing damage would be covered if your home insurance policy has coverage for damage from an accidental water discharge.

The pipe from the main to the meter is the city's responsibility, from the meter to the house is the home owners. Insurance probably will not cover the pipe but may cover damage caused by the leak. Policies vary.

Is broken pipe damage covered under homeowners insurance?

It depends on the insurance policy. You can always call your insurance agent and ask him or her to clarify your coverage. Just FYI - when it is covered, you are usually supposed to contact your insurance company ASAP when you discover the damage in order to start the claims process.

Does homeowners cover burst water pipes and damage outdoors?

Burst water pipes and water heaters busting are covered for the damage caused inside the house if its sudden and accidental, but the pipe or water heater themselves are not covered as this is maintenance. This is generally not a problem as the damage is more severe than the piece of pipe. Outdoors is going to be more of a problem as the damage is nothing anyway. More information is needed to give you a complete answer. Are you talking about sprinkler system, pipes in a pool house for the pool, or other pipes. Cause is the issue in question as well.

Sure, as long as the damage was from a covered cause. The key to homeowners insurance is that the damage is due to a covered cause. Does home owners insurance cover broken drain pipe in the foundation?

It really just depends on the type of policy you bought and what is the cause of the damage to the drain pipe. If it broke from freezing or another covered peril it's probably covered. Most homeowners Insurance Policies will not cover foundation damage nor pipes embedded in in or below a slab foundation unless the damage is the result of a covered peril. There are endorsements that some companies offer to provide coverage for foundation or ground movement as well.

Does business insurance cover busted pipes due to weather?

Normally your insurance (at least in the UK) will only cover the resulting damage of the burst pipe. Generally speaking burst pipes are considered maintenance problems and so the repair to the pipe itself is not covered (although some policies will cover it in some situations). The damage that results from the burst pipe is an "escape of water" and that is a standard peril on most property insurance policies. This means that the damage to the walls or floors which is caused by the water will be covered. The conclusion is that normally the pipe itself is not covered but any resulting damage is, but check your policy to be sure. There is some advice on how to avoid burst pipes, which you might want to take a look at see related link..
