A biltong is a snack that originated in South Africa nearly 400 years ago. Although similar to American jerky, this type of dried meat is thicker and cured differently. It is made of various types of lean meat, mainly beef, and is sliced in strips, sticks, or chips.
Roughly 1150 kj per 100gr depending on cut of meat used. Just remember because biltong is dried it's about double the kilojoules compared to fresh beef. Good source of protein and healthy when lean and not over salted. Just eat half of what you would when eating fresh meat.
That depends entirely on where you are. They are called biltong, bakkwa, bindenfliesch, bogoo, came del sol, bresaola, cecina, charqui, jerky, kuivaliha, pastirma, pemmican or kawaab. -Quite possibly many other names. I had biltong as a kid and later found it very similar to pastrima from Turkey and came del sol from Brazil.
I did not know what biltong was but after researching it (and correct me if I'm wrong) it's raw , dried beef that is smoked . I would think because it is raw that you should avoid it. However I would just ask your doctor to be on the safe side.
Dried bannana chips, dried peaches, dried mango, and ect.
There are two main ways of producing instant coffee - freeze drying and spray drying. In freeze-drying, brewed coffee is frozen into granules, which are then placed in vacuum chamber, where the water sublimates (evaporates w/o liquifaction). In spray-drying, brewed coffee is sprayed in tower and dried by hot air in the matter of seconds. Freeze dried instant coffee advantage: higher quality product, better preserved flavor. Spray dried instant coffee advantages: faster and cheaper.
