Many people recommend that a dog's diet should include both wet and dry food: 60% dry, and 40% canned.
Buy the best puppy food you can afford, whether it's canned or dry. Puppies of any breed should be fed the best quality puppy food you can afford, for it's first full year. To know if the food you are considering is a good quality food, read the ingredient panel on whichever food you're considering.
Amongst the first ingredients listed should be a named source of meat, such as chicken, or beef (not simply "meat", or meat by-products). In a puppy food, look at the guaranteed analysis to see that the protein level is 28% -30%. The fat content should be around 17% .
The food should be preserved naturally, with mixed tocopherols (Vitamin E) or Vitamin C. Avoid all artificial preservatives, such as BHA, BHT, and Ethoxyquin. There should be NO artificial food coloring or dies in in the food, and no sweeterners (such as corn sweeteners or sorbitol, and no added salt in a dog or puppy food of quality.
The best quality dog and puppy foods are not found in a supermarket, you would need to go to one of the larger pet stores, or a specialty feed store.
Only when weaning it from its mother, then soak puppy food in hot water to get soft, allow it to cool before feeding it to the puppy. It should be mushy not watery, then go on to dry food when it has all its teeth, wet food does not keep teeth healthy and causes bad breath.
Formula maybe wet food
will a puppie rather eat wet or dry food
Yes it shouldn`t sour if its dry food if its wet food throw it away.
when they are puppies, they do fall out because they are getting their adult teeth. when they get really really old they start losing their teeth. one of my friend's dog, a chihuahua he's about 10 years old (human years) right now and he has no teeth so they give him wet dog food, or put water in his kibbles and bits and microwaves it so its squishy.
Puppies of any breed should be started on the weaning process at between three and four weeks of age.
well, my dog is about 8 years old, and as you might already know, my dogs gettin kind old. at one point, my dog had really bad teeth, so we would serve him wet food. when he got his teeth checked and fixed, he went right back to eating hard food with no touble at all. i hope this little story will help.
Good quality dry puppy food is excellent because it contains all the nutrients required and pups can experiment with it as they grow. Small quantities can be made available at all times with less risk of contamination than wet food poses. Unwanted bacteria is the last thing you need around a litter of pups and their lactating dam. Quality dry food is also good for your puppies' developing teeth and offers them the opportunity to chew as they feel the need. The lactating bitch will eat it too, and it's good for her at this time.
Most puppies/dogs have wet noses and sometimes they get dry but not for long wet noses are a good sign
I would check and see if their starting to get teeth if not just let them nurse for a while longer. If they have teeth, start out with soft, wet, can food and go from there.
It really isn't a good idea to feed cats or dogs wet food all the time if you can help it. Hard food actually helps to remove plaque and such from their teeth. Feeding them wet food all of the time can cause dental problems.
At any age but it`s not good for their breath or teeth,if your are going to use wet food mix with dry food, also give milk bones to help with clean teeth and better breath
