Wood is a resource that is renewable essentially in perpetuity.

In NZ, Pinus radiata (a.k.a. Monterey Pine), in managed plantations reaches harvestable size of 4 - 500 mm dbh in 20 years or so. (Diameter at Breast Height).

This timber is suitable for paper making and for framing for building, when appropriately treated against insect and decay.

[For the manufacture of higher quality paper for e.g. photocopying, one needs pulp from hardwoods. These take longer to grow.]
