A house with walls all facing in the same direction is a house that is sitting smack bang on top of the north pole. that way, all four walls are facing south. :D
If all directions are south, then the house stands on the north pole, and the bear is white.
Because of the tilt of the Sun in winter, the sun will strike the south facing windows facing windows for most of the day.
This only happens in the northern hemisphere, and the reason is becasue South is the main direction of the sun. It will rise in the South-east and set in the South-west, but a house facing South will get sunlight all day.
The only way this is possible is if the house is built directly on the North Pole.
If you are facing south, then the east is to your left.
How much of an overhang needed depends on how big your property (and especially your south facing window) is. You'll need to get an expert on this matter to check out your house and then you'll know.
When facing south, west is to your right.
You want 25% wider than the planned house. If the building is not square, you want the gables going east to west to put the long side facing north and south. For a "joe average" size house of 100 sqm footprint i'd be looking for a North facing front door with 25m frontage going back 40m to provide a good south facing back garden
Build it on a rotating platform. Build it directly on the North Pole.
The correct position is South facing for the images of Gods and Godesses and North facing for the worshipper. This is the position in almost all of North and East Indian temples
