In Muslim countries, a mosque may be used as a school as well as a place of prayer. In non-Muslim countries, a mosque is very often the central institution in the Muslim community. People may be married in mosques, they may gather in mosques to break their fasts, they may use the mosque as a center for charitable activities, and, of course, they often use them as schools.

Me and my Muslim friends went to their mosque for Muslimfest during prayer and they said i can pray with them.i was copying their movement but did not recite the arabic. is that ok?

It is ok if the imam (leader of the prayer) was reciting and reading out loud and you copied the prayer positions and it is ok if you do not know how to pray, like reading the surahs (verses) of the Quran. Other than these reasons, your prayer was incorrect but I cannot say if Allah (God) would approve your prayer.

The mosque is the house of Allah. All Muslims respect it and handle it with care. In the mosque the people pray, read Quran, listen to a lecture, or they can be cleaning the mosque and tending to it. Also, one is not supposed to play, sing, dance, or do anything of any kind that would be a sin or is not right to do.
