Sounds more like a problem with the wires somewhere. It is unlikely if failed distrib anything would fire & a cap has nothing to really fail. Make sure plugs are tight enough (grounded) otherwise, they won't fire. I am assuming gap is not too wide (another reason they wouldn't fire)Also, the terminals in the boots will snap on the end of the plugs & onto (or in) the distrib terminals. You can feel this thru the boots.
Very, very, very, very little - no ignition spark.
The distributor takes the electrical output from the coil and sends it to the spark plug. The rotor is the device that transfers the electricity from the coil wire to the spark plug wire.
You will have no spark from the distributor. You will have no spark from the distributor.
An electrical fault, check the spark plug, distributor and leads.
It does not have a distributor, modern engines have coil packs controlled by a computer. Follow the spark plug wires to the common location
The secondary coil output is transferred from the distributor rotor to the distributor cap through a contact point known as the rotor terminal. As the rotor spins, it aligns with individual terminals in the cap corresponding to each cylinder's spark plug. When the rotor makes contact with a terminal, it transfers the high-voltage electrical pulse generated by the ignition coil, allowing the spark to travel through the spark plug wires to ignite the air-fuel mixture in the engine's cylinders. This process is essential for the timing and distribution of ignition sparks in internal combustion engines.
Have you measured primary & secondary resistance at the ignition coil on the distributor? The coil in the distributor on these vehicles is a very common poit of failure. If it fails, it can cause other things to shutdown, such as the fuel pump. For fuel pump diagnosis, pull and check the FP relay for starters. *** I also had this issue on my 1998 Cirrus, it was the cam position sensor. A bad crank position sensor will also leave you with no spark or fuel.
this is a common problem on these cars.....the distributor is likely the problem.
My 93 camry has no power from the distributor to the spark plugs. The car unable to start.
That's not really what's going on. The coil makes the spark, the distributor distributes the spark to the correct plug. If the distributor is not in the correct position, the spark does not go to the correct plug, or goes to the correct plug at the wrong time.
