∙ 14y agoOatmeal baths can help, take a cup of oatmeal and put it in a knee hi (nylon stocking)or strainer, let this soak in warm water, can then apply with cloth to the dog, or use in tub etc for a soak.

i put polly-sporen on his wounds and it stops him from going near, but tends to lick it off,
nothing else can help. so go to the vets and get per scribed pills

∙ 10y agoDogs can have itchy skin for several reasons, and what you can do to help relieve it will change accordingly.
If your dog has a contact allergy, removing certain plants from your yard (check which in your local area are known to cause reactions) is a good place to start. You can rub soothing/simple things like aloe vera gel or moisturiser (avoid scented moisturisers) on your dogs skin.
Trying a novel diet for you dog may help relieve itchiness if they have a food allergy. A fish and potato diet is good, avoiding beef/chicken. You will need to limit all other food during a period of about a month to see if it is working - this means no beef/chicken treats, table scraps, etc.
It is common for dogs to have an allergy to flea saliva. This means that a single flea bite can cause large areas of the skin to become red and itchy. Maintaining good flea control (regular preventative, most are monthly) is a good start.
If your dog continues to itch, take them to the vet. There are ways of investigating the causes and medications they can provide to help relieve the itchiness.

∙ 15y agoi would bring it to the vet and you can get special creams. in the mean time while you bring it to the vet, some benadryl cant hurt, and will help to sooth the itch.
