The service engine light can be reset on your Jeep Commander, by switching the message center to the oil life message. Once on the message, hold the check mark until it returns to 100%.
It is impossible to reset.
Press the "step" button until "0 miles to service" is displayed. Hold "reset" until it resets.
The system has detected a malfunction and set a code. You will need to have it checked with a scan tool.
After fixing the cause of the code, you reset the code with a scan tool.
You need a code reader which plugs into port under dash. Any shop that has 1 can do for you or you can buy 1 at an auto parts store.
Move through the overhead display to where it says perform service. Hold down the Reset button for a few seconds and it will reset to "3,000 miles to service"
Time for an oil change.
Hit the step button until you see 0km to service the hold down the reset button.
Jeep Commander was created in 2006.

Jeep doesn't use an inertia/ reset switch. The fuel system is computer controlled with relays.
