The axles will not cause this and probably shouldn't have been replaced. It could be the CV joints, but doesn't seem likely that they will both go out simultaneously. Sound like you may have an issue with your power steering or maybe your brakes. Hard to give an answer as it's easier to diagnose if you get to drive the vehicle and hear the noises yourself. try changing the ball-joints. i did have noise from my front end and when i replaced the ball-joint everything was alot better. no noise and the steering was alot tighter.
