To fix a loose steering column in a 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, first, remove the lower cover of the steering column to access the mounting bolts. Tighten any loose bolts or screws that secure the column to the dashboard and the vehicle frame. If the column itself is worn or damaged, consider replacing it or using a steering column repair kit. Finally, reassemble the cover and ensure that the column is securely mounted before testing the steering.

For a 1973 Jeep CJ5, you can use a tilt steering column from various sources, but a common choice is the aftermarket columns designed for classic Jeep models. Columns from other Jeep vehicles, such as the CJ7 or later models, may also fit with some modifications. Ensure compatibility with the steering wheel and wiring harness for proper installation. Always verify the specific dimensions and mounting points before purchasing.
