There is a free service out there, you can call, they will locate any underground utilities for you. Around here it is called Digger's Hotline. Most underground utilities are at least two feet down, most gardens do not get any where that deep.

How does a cable backhoe excavator work not cable front shovel or face shovel?

The operating parts consist of a boom, hinged at its base end at the machine, and a stick, pivoting on the outer end of the boom. The stick extends above and below its pivot point, with the digging bucket on the lower end and the retracting cable at its upper end. A second cable, the digging cable, is attached to the lower end of the stick, near the bucket. The digging and retraction actions of the cables is straightforward. To lift the boom/stick/bucket assembly, the digging cable is locked and the retraction cable is pulled in. With the digging cable locked, the boom and stick assembly becomes a ridged triangle and is forced to move up as the retracting cable is shortened. After the bucket is raised, the boom is pivoted to the dump site, the retraction cable is locked and the digging cable is allowed to play out. The Retracting cable holds the boom and stick assembly in its elevated position and its weight forces the stick and bucket outward until the load is dumped.

Direct buried vs in conduit?

In conduit is way better option. Protects the cable from people digging around it. At least will hit conduit before hitting the wire. Also protects the cable from whatever is placed in the hold when backfilling

How do you repair the accidentally cut fiber optic cables?

If you accidentally cut a fiber optic cable, you will need to contact your phone company immediately. This is who owns the cable and they will have to repair it. They will charge a large amount of money because you did not locate the lines before you started digging.

How is under ground electrical cable marked?

Underground electrical cables are typically marked using a process called "underground utility marking" to ensure safety and prevent damage during excavation or construction activities. Here's how it's usually done: Utility Locator Services: Before any digging or excavation work begins, it's crucial to contact a utility locator service in your area. These services are often provided by utility companies or specialized companies that help identify the location of underground utilities, including electrical cables. Request Marking: When you contact the utility locator service, you'll need to provide information about the location where you plan to dig. They will ask for details about the area, including the address, type of work you're doing, and the proposed dig site. Site Visit and Marking: A representative from the utility locator service will visit your site to mark the locations of underground utilities, including electrical cables. They use specialized equipment to trace the path of the cables and mark the ground's surface with colored paint or flags. Different colors might represent different types of utilities (e.g., red for electrical, yellow for gas, blue for water, etc.). Color Codes: The colors used for marking can vary by region and utility company, but some common color codes include: Red: Electrical lines, cables, and conduit. Yellow: Gas lines and pipes. Blue: Water lines and pipes. Orange: Communication lines, including telephone and fiber optics. Green: Sewer lines and pipes. Caution and Respect: Once the utilities are marked, it's crucial to exercise caution and respect the markings. Do not dig within the marked area, and be aware that the actual depth of the utilities might not be indicated by the markings. Safe Digging: If your project involves digging or excavation, make sure to follow local regulations and guidelines for safe digging practices. Hand digging or using vacuum excavation techniques might be necessary in areas where utilities are located close to the surface. Remember, the process may vary depending on your location and local regulations. It's important to follow the guidelines provided by the utility locator service and any applicable laws to ensure the safety of your project and prevent damage to underground utilities, including electrical cables.
