Kids should be able to wear what they want to school, unfortunately there is always a small minority of people (even kids) whose judgement can't be trusted. That is why rules were invented and why dress codes get written. Uniforms take the issue one step further because there is always a small minority who judge others by how they dress or what they wear. Uniforms take the clothing issues out of the process of getting an education.
Kids believing that school uniforms are stupid, or ugly, or beneath them don't realize that they are gaining a benefit that kids that aren't required to wear uniforms don't get. That is, they're learning personal discipline; an extremely valuable asset when they will have to make their way in a world where they will have to know how to conform in certain ways to fit in where they want to be.

Yes: It is healthy for a student to express personality in most cases.
No: A uniform stops bullying as everyone has to be the same. I.e. poverty wont be an issue (so they say, in Ireland anyway, uniform costs 3x the price of a set of clothes which discredits their point).

∙ 12y agoWell, kids can choose to wear whatever they want to school (as long as it is within the rules) but should choose to respect their bodies and wear modest clothing. Before you leave for school in the morning, look in the mirror and think to yourself "Would my grandmother want me wearing these clothes?"

I would say no, kids should be able to wear what they want. I mean if you go on a field trip you can just stick a sticker on their clothing marking their name and their school. Uniforms aren't even needed, I support my opinion and I hope you do too.
