An object can gain kinetic energy by accelerating or gravitic energy by increasing height, among other things.
Only in a particular way. Kinetic energy is given by the formula 1/2 X mass of object X Velocity of object X Velocity of object. So if, say, a car of mass 1000 kg was travelling along a level road with a velocity of 10 metres per second, its kinetic energy would be 1/2 x 1000 x 10 x 10 or 50000 Joules If the car was travelling along a different road, higher up a mountain, say, doing the same speed, then the kinetic energy would be the same. So in this case the kinetic energy would be unaffected by height. HOWEVER... If the car fell from a cliff, then the height of the cliff wouldmatter. A short drop would mean that when it hit the ground the car's velocity would be small, and so its kinetic enery would be small. From a high cliff it would fall more distance, and so the car would have more time to acellerate to a greater speed (as gravity pulled it down) so that when it hit the ground it would be travelling quickly and hence its kinetic energy would be high. Height affects Potential Energy - the greater the height the greater the energy. If the car is high up, the large amount of potential energy is converted into a large amount of kinetic energy as the car falls. On impact the kinetic energy turns into sound (the crash) and heat.

They are; Kinetic Energy (from moving objects), Gravitational Potential Energy (possessed by anything on a height), Elastic Potential Energy (possessed by squashed or stretched objects), Electrical, Magnetic, Mechanical, Heat/Thermal, Nuclear, Chemical, and Light.
Find out the form of Mechanical energy in he object. Kinetic energy is measured with velocity Vibration energy measured by amplitude and frequency of vibration. Datum energy is measured by height of the object from ground. Hence it depends on the type of the energy.
Gravitational potential energy
When a body is supported at a height, it has potential energy. When it is released, it will start to fall. As the downward velocity increases, so kinetic energy increases. The potential energy is reduced as the height of the body decreases.

Shut Up. I Don't Know.

Kinetic energy = (1/2) x mass x speed2. Height has nothing to do with it.Kinetic energy = (1/2) x mass x speed2. Height has nothing to do with it.Kinetic energy = (1/2) x mass x speed2. Height has nothing to do with it.Kinetic energy = (1/2) x mass x speed2. Height has nothing to do with it.
Potential energy is because of height. Kinetic energy is because of motion.

Yes, it is based on both. Potential energy (gravitational potential energy, to be more precise) is simply the weight multiplied by the height.
The particles that make up an object with have both types of energy because they are at some height (gravitational potential), vibrating back and forth (kinetic energy, and made of charged particles electric potential because of electric fields).
