Knowing the sequence of an organism's DNA allows researchers to study specific genes, to compare them with the genes of other organisms, and to try to discover the functions of different genes and gene combinations.
It allows scientist to study specific genes of an organisms DNA.

Multicellular Organisms
Cosmids allow you to insert DNA sequences (genes) into the genome of a bacteria, much like a plasmid. Cosmids in recombinant DNA technology, however, utilize phage (bacterial viruses) to enable researchers to insert DNA sequences of genes with up to 44,000 base pairs, while normal plasmids are only able to efficiently carry 10,000 base pairs. This allows researchers to insert more complex genes into bacteria as well as increases the efficiency with which researchers can make genomic libraries of more complex organisms.
Actually the development of heredity allowed organisms to store and pass on INFORMATION :))

A scientist studying how populations evolve would most likely observe organisms with short generation times, high reproductive rates, and large population sizes, such as bacteria or fruit flies. These organisms allow researchers to observe multiple generations quickly and see how genetic changes occur over time within a population.

A sequence is an ordered set of numbers. There may be a rule governing the sequence such that, if you know the numbers in the sequence up to a particular point, the rule will allow you to deduce the value of the next number in the sequence. That rule - if it exists - is the sequential pattern.
