Just because LG claim to be the best doesn't make them the best.

LG glasses are cheap because they don't have the more advanced active technology used by almost all other manufacturers.

What are the benefits of passive 3D glasses?

Passive glasses are lighter, and a little cheaper than active glasses. Passive glasses are under £10 whereas active glasses start at a little over $10. Passive glasses need no batteries but the resolution of passive 3D such as LG is half that of other 3D systems at just 540 lines, lower than the standard definition of 576 lines that was introduced almost 50 years ago.

Can someone tell you the price of 3D TV glasses?

Active 3D TV glasses are from $15 upwards. Passive glasses are cheaper but remember that passive glasses have no electronics built in to them and they only deliver 540 line resolution compared to the full 1080 HD resolution of active systems.

Are active 3D glasses better than the passive 3D glasses because they have battery and are more expensive that active glasses seem to be more sophisticated and reliable?

Active 3D glasses are far better than passive glasses when used with an active 3D television. Similarly, passive 3D glasses work well with passive televisions. Active glasses have been criticized for their weight in the past. Later glasses are lighter than many passive glasses, have a battery life of over one hundred hours and are proving to be exceptionally reliable.

Will the active 3D glasses work with passive 3D tv We have an LG passive 3D TV and we need extra ones My friend has an active 3D TV though so I was wondering if I can just borrow his glasses.?

Active 3d glasses will not work with passive 3d TV. Active glasses use shutter 3D technology that requires a power source to power the lenses in the glasses. Passive glasses don't have electronics or batteries. Hence, they are lighter and more comfortable. Active and passive TV work using completely different technology and thus active glasses cannot work on passive TV.

What is your advice for the 3D TV?

I would check out the new LG Cinema 3D screens. They are the first to use passive (non-electrical) glasses like the theaters do. The glasses are much cheaper and lighter weight than any of the active-shutter types.

Which 3D TV would you get if you want battery free 3D glasses. Does it perform as well as the battery glasses?

Active glasses and passive glasses use very different technologies to separate the left and right eye images. To choose a 3D television based on the type of glasses is not a wise decision. Spend time to study both active and passive images. Experience a range of models and get a feel for the difference in the glasses. Make your choice based on which image is the best, which glasses are most comfortable and which 3D image looks the most realistic. Remember that active glasses are now as light as passive glasses so there is rarely an issue with heavy glasses now.

What kind of alternates should you use to be free of my bulky active 3D glasses since it feels more like heavy goggles?

Well, passive 3D glasses can solve your problem, but they'll only work on passive 3D TV. Passive glasses don't have use batteries or electric circuit. They are almost the same as normal polarized sunglasses. Truly, passive glasses are amazingly comfortable for the eyes.

What Makes Television 3d Television?

There are 2 systems: active (which uses special glasses with electronic shutters) and passive (which uses polarization and special glasses).

Are the 3D glasses for LG cinema 3D TV expensive like others. How much are they?

LG glasses are passive polarizing glasses so they should be very cheap. Active glasses, as used by most other manufacturers are somewhat more expensive but prices for active glasses are falling rapidly.

Do you know which brand or model of 3D TV that is flicker free and crosstalk free which uses battery free 3D glasses?

There are two technologies in use with 3D television. Active 3D requires glasses that have batteries while passive models do not. Crosstalk in active glasses has been a problem but it depends on the make of glasses and television. For passive 3D, look at Sony, Visio, Toshibe or LG.

Why active filter?

An active filter can provide much sharper band-edge characteristics than a passive one, with the same or smaller number of components, cheaper, and without the through-loss of a passive filter.

Are passive 3D TV glasses the ones that are known for the bad side effects?

No, the active 3D glasses are very popular for flickering and causing eye strain.
