China:
The PLA's tank inventory was numbered around 10,000 during its peak time in the 1980s and 1990s, but this is estimated to have been reduced to 7,000, operating in 11 armored brigades.
The Ground Forces retain a very large quantity of vehicles and equipment. There is also likely to be a great deal further, older, equipment in state military store, a practice continued from the Soviet Union. Main Battle Tanks: 22,800+ (~6,500active).
USA:
United States Army and United States Marine Corps: Approximately 6,000 M1A1 and M1A2 variants in both Army and Marine Corps inventory.

As a further note, virtually all the US tanks in current inventory are top-tier modern M1A1 or later variants. There are substantial stocks of stored plain M1 tanks, too.
About 75% of the current Russian active inventory is older T-72 class, with the remainder being modern T-80/90 variants. The mothballed tanks are mostly T-55/54 tanks, with a minority of T-64/72 stocks also.
Similarly, over 90% of current active Chinese tanks are Type 96 or earlier designs (T-72 equivalents). Less than 10% are the new Type 98/99 series. All mothballed inventory is the older Type 80-series or before.
