Call your doctor. If it happens again, go to the hospital. My sister used to get these all the time, but it usually happened in the middle of winter, when we didn't have the humidifier on...I don't know what your problem is. Go to the doctor.

Why is your blood pressure high when you first wake up?

Sleep apnea can cause significant increases in blood pressure through the night. To see what it's like breathe normally for a few minutes then hold your breath for 30 seconds and suck in a deep breath of air. Repeat this process for a few hours while monitoring your blood pressure and you'll see it can cause a nasty increase. This is why sleep apnea is so dangerous. A person may have only slightly elevated blood pressure during the day but at night as they sleep (with untreated sleep apnea) damage is being done to cardiac tissue, brain tissue, and blood vessels.
