LeSabre starts off in third gear OBD DTC 24 VSS. 92 Buick LeSabre. Sometimes when you accelerate from a stop the transmission is third gear when it should be in 1st gear?
I couldn't figure out how to add all this so I am doing it in the answer section:I have a 92 Buick LeSabre. Car is warmed up and you come to a stop, sometimes when you accelerate from a stop the transmission is 3rd gear when it should be in 1st gear. Got the DTC from the computer

I replaced the VSS with one I got from the GM dealer, changed fluid/filter, cleared the OBD codes but the problem came back. I got the codes again this time only the 24 code.

So to summarize, after driving for a while the car is nice and warm I am stopped at a traffic signal. Upon accelerating the car is in 3rd gear and is very slow to get up to speed due to the gear ratio. The problem is intermittent. For some reason the transmission is stuck in 3rd gear and did not return to 1st upon stopping at the light. So I have already replaced the VSS sensor, fluid, filter. This has not remedied the situation. Any thoughts??
