There are at least three types of interspecific relationships that two organisms can have. One is beneficial to both, and is called mutual. Lichens are an example of a mutualistic relationship. Parasitic relationships are where one organism benefits and the other is harmed. And lastly, competition, where both organisms are harmed. There is a fourth kind, where one organism benefits and the other is unaffected, but I can't remember what it's called.

Could be symbiosis, too.
