With aggressive preventive maintenance (i.e. never let it overheat) 225,000+ luxurious miles. If you abuse or ignore a Northstar you'll be looking at $1600+ headgasket job. If you want post-warranty "manufacturer defect" service/replacement, buy a BMW or Mini.
If you ment starter and it is a northstar engine it is under the intake manifold.
According to the Owner's Manual, the 2001 Cadillac Deville holds 7.5 quarts (or 7.1 L) with a filter change.

Your thermostat could be malfunctioning - replace it. Your radiator could becoming plugged - flush it.
Get the actual number code for it and call your local carquest or autozone and they will tell you what it is.

you need a lift the engine comes out from the bottom of the car leave the shocks in place and unclip harness and then unbolt ground straps then unbolt subframe with motor attached to it losen it first prop it up on a crate or somthing to make it easy lift car off the motor
the starter is located inside the intake manifold which is under the top cover that says northstar in other words itis inside the motor The starter is under the intake manifold>
The northstar engine were remodified to take regular unleaded.I use thw mid in my 01 aurora.
The p1258 code (engine overtemp) is set when the engine reaches 268 deg f.
