"Lord Ullin's Daughter" is a Ballad by Thomas Campbell that tells the story of a young couple, Ellen and her lover, running away from her father, Lord Ullin, who disapproves of their relationship. They try to escape across a stormy sea in a small boat with the help of a ferryman. However, the storm worsens, and Lord Ullin's pursuit ultimately leads to tragedy as the boat capsizes, resulting in the death of the young couple. Lord Ullin is left to lament both his daughter's death and his own role in the tragedy.
In Lord Ullin's Daughter, transferred epithet can be seen in the line "the boat has left a stormy land". The epithet "stormy" describes the land, but its intensity is actually reflecting the tumultuous emotions and danger faced by the characters on the boat. This technique adds depth and emotion to the scene.
