The one you are looking for most of the time is directly in front of the engine. It goes from alternator to the body via a 6 inch or so wire, that connects to body in front of and near the fuse box. This is the one that usually goes bad, due mainly to vibrations or a bad motor mount(s). Fix the mounts if you change this ground wire or it will break again.
The 1996 General Motors/Cadillac Deville has multiple ground terminals and frame connections. These include multiple grounds in the engine bay as well as under-the-car.
Any metal part of the body should work fine for a ground
Check your battery connections, engine ground wire, and starter connections.

Any good ground on the engine will do. Look for an unpainted surface or a bolt. transman Battery is under the rear seat try that area
the battery is under the back seat, you can jump it direct, or you can jump in underhood on passenger side of the motor there is a red cap for positive and then any good engine ground
Check for a bad ground circuit at the rear tial lights.
I have a 98 Cadillac deville and it was not turning over. All the lights in the dash came on and it read, theft system problems car may not restart. And it didn't, I checked the ground wire from the battery and it started and has been every since. Hope this works for you as well.

you need a lift the engine comes out from the bottom of the car leave the shocks in place and unclip harness and then unbolt ground straps then unbolt subframe with motor attached to it losen it first prop it up on a crate or somthing to make it easy lift car off the motor
