It is reported elsewhere on the internet that the oldest known lock was found by archeologists in the Khorsabad palace ruins near Nineveh. The lock was estimated to be 4,000 years old.
Since locks where invented, people have locked up items of value, hence the name "locker" could be applied to any area or container where access was limited by the use of a lock.
So for simplicity's sake, Lockers were invented in approximately 2000 B.C.
