I don't have a great answer for this, but it is slightly more helpful than the last; as with anything you put in your body, it can be harmful. Anyone questioning their medication is best off searching for research PDF's and reports on that specific medicine. Personally I feel that only VERY unstable people should be on anti-depressants long term... cognitive therapy and learning about your depression or anxiety and learning to live with it, work with it, and fight it, is much more valuable than just numbing yourself.
If you are doing research on this you need to go to a site with actual facts on the medication.
Some anti-depressants can induce liver failure while on them or if you stop taking them without being weened off. I would say if you are considering taking them that you talk to both your therapist AND you doctor and also do plenty of research yourself. Also, have a game plan, don't rely on this pill to "fix" you. Good luck in research or feeling better, which ever you came here for.
