Plastic wrap sticks best to glass, but it also sticks to metal. For plastic containers, try aluminum foil.
No polycarbonate plastic and acrylic plastic make a better replacement for glass than vinyl. There are also some applications for which nothing replaces real glass.
Glass is more durable.
Plastic is less dense than glass, so normally a plastic cup is considerably lighter than a glass cup, although in theory a very small glass cup could weigh less than a very large plastic cup.
salt corrodes glass
optical fibers
A hologram is basically a 3D image formed by light beams. The long, thin, flexible strands of glass or plastic that is used to carry light signals and telecommunication data for long distances is known as Fibre Optics.
The air in the atmosphere causes light to flicker. Therefore Its called atmospheric distortion. Its why the sun and moon are larger, the closer they are.
Good optical fiber is made of glass, but inexpensive fiber is sometimes made of plastic.
Non conductive materials like plastic or glass.
Plastic is easier to carry than glass!
Fibre optic
optical fibers are strands of glass or plastic that use light to pass information. It is very fast and is not disturbed by electromagnetic fields.
Fiber Optic cables carry data as light.
Fiberglass is a composite material reinforcement. Parts made using fiberglass are typically still referred to as "fiberglass." Fiberglass parts are made from strands of glass fiber which are suspended in a polymer (plastic) matrix (resin). Fiberglass cloth is a fabric comprised of strands of glass fibers that are bundled together in different weaves. Unlike carbon fiber, fiberglass can be purchased in the form of cloth where long continuous stands of glass are woven into a fabric using a predetermined weave, or in chopped strand mat where short strands of glass are formed randomly into a fabric and held together by a weak styrene styrene bonding agent. Fiberglass cloth has good direction strength while fibergas mat has a lower strenght but is equal in all directions. The two most common glass types are E-glass and S-glass. S-glass is a higher strength glass reinforcement, sometimes referred to as structural-glass, and as you can imagine it is a bit more expensive. High purity glass strands.
Plastic drinking glasses are useful if one has young children, or is considering a picnic. They can be picked up at supermarkets, or for a more sturdy plastic glass, Ikea carry a good range.
