The boys were on a transport plane evacuating from their boarding school and were shot down (during wartime) over the ocean. Their plane crash landed in a dense jungle region on a deserted island. Many of the boys become separated from each other after the wreck, which killed the pilot and copilot. This meant that the boys were on their own and had to develop their own society to survive.

No, The mulberry marked boy dies in an accidental fire, Simon is beaten to death and Piggy is crushed by a giant rock. They also attempt to hunt down and kill Ralph. However, a naval officer arrives in time to save Ralph and he takes them all awa y (and presumably back home). This is really quite lucky, as the savages had set the who jungle on fire and if the naval officer had not arrived all the animals anf fruit they could have eaten would have been charcoal, so they would have starved to death.

The book supposedly took place during the time of World War II.A group of school boys were being evacuated to Australia. They were going over the Pacific Ocean, when one of the engines broke on their plane. They fell from the sky and landed on the island. The place where the plane landed is called the "scar" because the damage that the plane left when it crashed symbolizes a part of the forest that was once just as dense as the rest of the forest until the plane crashed and left fallen trees and ruin behind it.The part of the forest was ruined like a scar would ruin your skin.
