try calling the local government (police) and find out what towing / wrecker yards they use. then get the numbers for the places from the police office or online and call them with the VIN number so they can see if they have the car impounded or on their storage lot. When a car is picked up the companies must send a letter out to everyone who's ever been a registered owner of said vehicle stating where its at and what the associated fees are to recover that vehicle. You could also try going to the tag / registration office of where you registered the car last and asking for any information such as duplicate titles issued, or a change in registration. If all else fails you can maybe pay a dealer to run a GRATIS (name varies from state to state) they can run the vin number of a vehicle to see last registered owner, address, emissions date, etc.
Best bet would most likely be the police / local impound / wrecking yards. If you cant find it. report it stolen.
