I had one made for my 1973 Super Beetle, I simply removed one of my door handles and took it in to my local locksmith . He looked up the code on the handle and made me a new key. To remove the handle just remove one screw on the side next to the rubber weather strip and slide the handle forward.

Volkswagen Key Disassembly
That is too vague of a question. when you turn the key do the dash lights come on (two red lights on speedo). If so, when you turn the key to start the car, does the engine try to turn over? Is it turning over and not starting, or not turning over? or is nothing happening?
Lost key
Not sure with out hurting something. I had to have the lock smith come out and make me a key when I bought my bus. The owners had lost the key. It was about 50 bucks.

The key for the Volkswagen Cabrio from the years 2000 through 2004 are still 'MFG RESTRICTED' and are a 'DEALER RESTRICTED KEY'. Unfortunately you will have to go to the dealer for any additional keys. There is not a separate 'VALET' key. Some models have what is called a 'SERVICE KEY' which will operate the locks, but will not start the vehicle. The Cabrio is not one of these. i have lost my product key! where and how can you get a new or another product key ,please?
If you lost the key to your moped you will have to contact the manufacturer of the moped to get another key. You can try going to a mechanics shop and see if they have the capabilities of making a new key.
Place your first key into the ignition and turn to the second notch (do not start the car) Now close the door and place your second key into the handle lock Turn the key to the lock position and let it spring back to the central position. Hold down the Lock button on your new remote, you may hear a bleep from the car Now unlock the car using the key in the barrel and remove, then take your first key out of the ignition Close the door Your remote should now be coded
