Egypt was divided into two sections, upper and lower Egypt. Though the Egyptians did not draw precise border, sources make it apparent that Lower Egypt was the Nile Delta region of the north. This area of the Nile emptied into the Mediterranean Sea.
Lower Egypt was located on the top of Egypt. (Up the nile river)
Egypt is a transcontinental country, primarily in Africa while the Sinai peninsula is in the Middle East part of Asia. So, a small part of the country is in Asia, but the majority is in Africa.
lower egypt since its above the delta and lower egypt is the north part of egypt since the nile flows backwards
Upper Egypt
Since the Nile River flows upward, Egypt is practically upside down. As a result, the ruling Pharaohs preferred the upper or Northern part of the river and country. This part of the country was crucial to their respective kingdoms and trade routes.
Ancient Egypt was divided into two regions, known as Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. To the north was Lower Egypt where the Nile stretched out with its several branches to form the Nile Delta. To the south was Upper Egypt, stretching to Syene. The two kingdoms of Upper and Lower Egypt were united c. 3000 BCE, but each maintained its own regalia. Thus, the pharaohs were known as the rulers of the Two Kingdoms (alternatively: Two Lands), and wore the pschent, a double crown, each half representing sovereignty of one of the kingdoms. The terminology "Upper" and "Lower" derives from the flow of the Nile from the highlands of East Africa northwards to the Mediterranean Sea, so Upper Egypt lies to the south of Lower Egypt. Lower Egypt mostly consists of the Nile Delta. There were a number of differences between Upper and Lower Egyptians in the ancient world. They spoke different dialects and had different customs. Many of these differences, and the occasional tensions they created, still exist in modern times. The combination of both upper and lower Egypt was accomplished by warrior-king Menes

Because upper Egypt is on higher ground than lower Egypt, another reason is the way the Nile flows. Upper Egypt was the part that had the first part of the river Nile flowing through it. As the river went lower as it flowed to the sea, the other part was labelled Lower Egypt. It can be confusing because Upper Egypt is in the south of the country and Lower Egypt is the north.
Lower Egypt is the northern part

lower egypt since its above the delta and lower egypt is the north part of egypt since the nile flows backwards
Lower Egypt is the top part of Egypt. It is called Lower Egypt because it is lower in the Nile, coming up from the south. The Nile delta is in Lower Egypt and runs out to the sea from there.
Although Upper Egypt is actually the southern part of Egypt on a compass, it is called Upper Egypt because its elevation is higher than Lower Egypt which is the northern part of Egypt on a compass but has lower elevation and is therefore is called Lower Egypt.
