the owners manuel has numbers from12c700 thru129800. there is a number on the choke shroud that reads x226700. I was told that is no good. The logsplitter serial number i believe is1j018c80050. Log splitter number 550. Maybe it is a 5.5 horse.
A carburetor is a part of a combustible engine that blends the air and fuel so there can be ignition. It is one part of the engine that you cannot do without.
You will find it where the fuel line meets the engine. Also, if you cannot even find the carburetor, chances are you should not attempt any handy work by yourself.
Go to this page. http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/public/list.jsp Enter model number and serial number. You can get free manuals that may show how it goes together.
carburettor prices vary with different carburettors.but you cannot fix a cracked carb.u need to replace the carburettor
I would recommend finding some carburetor books to read. People have made careers out of this question and it cannot be answered in a few sentences or paragraphs. "Holley Carburetors & Manifolds" published by HP Books is a good place to start. Kyrasis6 Mazdatruckin.com
If it has a carburator it cannot have injectors. If it has injectors it cannot have a carburator. Take the throttle body apart and clean it very well with carburator cleaner.
Both marks must FACE each other and cannot be off by even one tooth.
I cannot find a Purolator or Fram filter that cross references to a Briggs & Stratton 841023. Go to your local auto parts store and ask them to cross reference it for you. Make sure you have the correct B&S filter number.
Although I cannot be specific with this make and model, this trick has worked on numerous vehicles over the years. Disconnect the fuel line and unscrew the drain plug, which is located on the side or bottom of the carburetor bowl. Drain as much gas out as possible. Also drain and clean the fuel strainer and clean it with carburetor cleaner. Now either spray or pour carburetor cleaner into the fuel line and let it drain through the carburetor. At first it may not drain, but as it removes the varnish and gunk it should soon begin to flow. For really stubborn and a through cleaning of the carburetor you can replace the plug and fill the fuel line with cleaner and let it sit. I've done this in chainsaws, boats, bikes and cars over the years and have always fixed the problem.
When fuel cannot enter a carbureator like yours I would think it is because the float and /or needle valve is stuck. In other words the carburetor thinks it is full of fuel so it is shutting off any more incoming fuel. The filter on that model should only be inline not in the carb. I would remove the carb and take the top off of it. Take a can of GUMOUT and clean the needle /seat assembly good and make sure the float is working properly.
my experience is that the original 405 carburetor when functioning well is more economical than fitting a 504 or a 404 carb. the whole 405 carb unit must be functioning well for it to offer good fuel consumption. with it i manage 30mpg in city drive and up to 39mpg highway. the 504 and 404 carbs cannot achieve that, the best they can do is a max of 35 mpg given that the engine and the car in general is functioning well.
Low of fuel. Fuel shutoff set to off position. Fuel filter clogged. Fuel pump running but not pumping any fuel and must be replaced.
