You will have to take him to court to get child support, and they will decide the amount at that time.
Your best bet is to obtain employment of your own to support yourself and the child. Then, you will not be dependent on his ability to pay for your livelihood.
-I am in a very similar situation where I work two jobs and am currently sudying for my CPA exam. However, is it fair for me to take on the absent parent's responsibility? If my daughter arrives to school late one day, should the state send social services to my home, because I had to leave early to work for additional funds that ideally my daughter's father should be responsible for?
I was actually warned by this in June and I was outraged. I have been waitng since last year for a simple court date for the absent parent and have received not one answer as of yet. I feel that the state should send social services for the absent parent, because when parents do not take responsibility for their children's well being that is a true form of neglect. Meanwhile, I am being questioned about neglecting my daughter. I believe that most people do support themselves and custodial parents do not persue child support to live, but rather for the children themselves since after all all parents need and must take full responsibility for the children they chose to give birth to.

Yes, you will still have to pay child support because you are the mother or father of the child, and that makes you still pay child support.
Child support is not discharged in bankruptcy.
what if your done with current child support but still owe interest for back support.
i live in cailf.my child is 18 and she just had ababy do i still have to pay child support do i pay child support for my child who has a baby
The child support goes to the one who have custody. If the grandparent still do and the child has just moved out temporarily, they will still get it. If the child is under 18 and has moved they also still get it unless the child is emancipated. If the child is 18 the child support generally end but it depends on the state laws and/or what you have written in the child support agreement.
If you do not live with the child or directly support them you do.
yes you do because that is still your child!
You can still remarry but you will still owe the child support arrears.
If the father of your kids moves in does he still have to pay child support?
yup
If you relinquish your parental rights, you are still not going to get child support payments. The child support is for the child.
