The only battle fought in the First Persian War was the Battle of Marathon.
In the Second Persian War, Artemesion/Thermopylae (naval/land), Salamis (naval), Plataea (land), and Mycale (naval/land), were the major battles.
The crucial battle was Salamis, which crippled the Persian navy, left its resupply fleet inoperative causing the sending of half the Persian army home, and removed the amphibious threat to the Greek cities, allowing them to send out their armies to combine against and defeat the depleted Persian army at Plataia..
