From what I understand all marriages between service members- not say, GI and civilian are subject to the class-ridden provisions and penalties of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which like many military customs, salute here! stands quite apart from (Freeside USA) laws. There are specific rules regarding ranks and class that have not counterpart civil-wise. for example a commissioned officer in the service can only marry another officer within the same rank group such as Conpany- Lieutenant to Captain, or Field grade, etc. A commissioned officer cannot marry a non-commissioned officer such as a Sergeant, though she might be his duty interpreter- a sort of O/D private secretary. there has been very little talk of reform of these laws which are class oriented and might pose a Constitutional challenge. they don"t talk about these things in the recruiting offices, unlike school aid or combat pay. they are official orders with the status of Law.
Marriage laws are addressed state by state in the United States. There are no new blanket marriage laws. US marriage laws do not affect marriages in the Cayman Islands where the laws mirror UK law.
