What is relevant is the distance between your fifth wheel (typically mounted directly over the rear axle in a pickup truck or Western Hauler).. most of your RV trailers are designed on the notion that the distance between the centre of the hitch and the very rear of the bed will be between 45 - 50 inches. Some may be designed to allow the tailgate to simply be lowered, rather than removed, but most will not be.
