There are no media limits in Windows Movie Maker as far as I know.
However, most projects should run no longer than the disk capacity (if you intend to burn it). And too, consideration must be given to video quality in regards to length. So, time/duration does impact finalization of the project to some extent.

You do not have to convert it at all. When you publish/finish the Windows Movie Maker project (in this case, an Audio project) the process automatically converts the file format from a MSWMM to a .wma.In other words, Publish/Finish the project.
