A flashing OD light means there is a problem with your transmission. Your truck should continue to operate, but without overdrive capability, have it checked out at a shop. Your Mazda Pickup is almost identical to the Ford Ranger and thus should have a Ford transmission, when there is a problem with the transmission the OD light with either come on or Flash and sometimes the Check Engine light with come on too depending on what is wrong with the tranny.
Typically, when most vehicles experience symptoms that result in overdrive, the issue lies within the transmission. You should take your vehicle to a certified mechanic to check for any codes. You may need to replace or rebuild your vehicles transmission, and this is not a cheap repair (a new transmission after installation runs about $1800-$2500.
Overdrive should be ran by electrical ,so check your fuses . If that's not it check wiring that runs to transmission. You will have to get under the vehicle . There is an electrical switch that shifts the trans into overdrive , that is your next step . If you have a owners manual in the glove box it should tell you which fuse runs the overdrive circuit .Hope this helps . Rick
If the Overdrive light on your 1995 Mazda Protege is flashing, it typically indicates a transmission issue. This could be related to low transmission fluid, a faulty sensor, or a problem with the transmission itself. It's advisable to check the fluid level and condition first; if that seems fine, consider having a professional diagnose any potential issues. Ignoring the warning could lead to more significant problems, so addressing it promptly is essential.
how to change the mazda 121 gearbox
Your overdrive light could be faulty. You should check your fused and replace the one associated with the overdraft button.
how to reset check engine light on 1992 Mazda mpv
My knee-jerk answer would be a TCM (Transmission Control Module) problem, but have a shop hook up a scan tool and they can tell you what is wrong.
