The Americans ,after liberating the Polish People from the camps placed them in a DP camp and then handed over to the Russians. The Russians wanted all Slavs repatriated so that they could then be exterminated or enslaved. The ones that Hitler did not get, Stalin did!,There were estimates of hundreds of thousands or perhaps a million! There was never any proof of this of course.
I had never heard the name until I read 'Kane and Abel'. But at school I was taught how the western army was delayed so that the Russians could catch up. And how Sweden returned the Balt refugees to the Soviet Union after the war. I was especially impressed with how desperate they were not to be sent back; my parents told me some of them committed suicide on the quay rather than go back. So I can easily believe there was a similar return policy for the American army.

I can't get any internet hits on "Operation Kee Chanl", but it is my understanding that"Operation Kee Chanl" was the stalling of the U.S. troops arrival in Berlin in April 1945 when the Soviets had Berlin surrounded; Henceforth, the Russians internment of the Polish people. This was one of The Western Betrayals of The Yalta Treaty. There is a mention of it in chapter 43 of Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer.
