Montgomery ward western field guns?

Montgomery Wards did not make guns, they were made by various companies like Mossberg, Savage, Stevens and Hi Standard. Who made guns /shotguns for JC Penney, Sears, and Western Auto along with guns for Wards. The brand name were put on the guns for the stores to sell.

Ithaca did not make any Wards Western Field Shotguns. Most were made by Stevens/Savage or Mossberg.Western Field, the Montgomery Ward brand name, should not be confused with Western Arms Company, a division of Ithaca that made shotguns that appear identical to Ithaca's Lefever Nitro Special from 1929 to 1946.

Made for Montgomery Ward by Noble, if it is a slide action shotgun. Utility grade guns- not a great deal of collector interest, but good shooters. About $100, depending on condition.


It's made by Mossberg for Montgomery Ward and is equivalent to the Mossberg 500.


I have and old Western Field 20 ga deer gun and it's designed just like my new Mossberg 500 12 ga. The safety on both guns are on the top and the pump action is very similar. So my guess is that Mossberg made the western field. If you have transposed letters and you meant XNH, this was the Montgomery Ward code for Nobel guns.
