At the Battle of Cowpens, January 17, 1781. Hannah's Cowpens was an area in northwestern South Carolina. Morgan had a small group of Continental soldiers, and his force was mostly local militia. They killed or captured almost all of the British force. The British commander, Tarleton, and about thirty mounted men escaped.
