Probably "Calvados", an apple brandy. Commercial Calvados is not that strong, but the calvados made in the countryside by French farmers is commonly distilled out at 140 proof.
After the liberation of France in World War II, the GI's were offered Calvados by the grateful French people. GI's, thinking it no stronger than any other brandy, chugged it - and a lot of problems arose from that, as you can well imagine. The saying among the GI's was that it was made from "ground up grenades".

Buy a good brandy by learning more about the different types and by tasting each one to determine whether it's pleasing to your palate. Types of brandy include cognac (aged brandy that is double-distilled near the French town of Cognac), Armagnac (which is single-distilled in the Southwest of France), Brandy de Jerez (which is very similar to sherry) and grape brandy (which may be produced elsewhere in the world where grapes are grown). Brandy grades include A.C. (aged in wooden casks for at least 2 years), VS (very special and aged for at least 3 years), VSOP (very special old pale, which has been aged for at least 5 years), XO (extra old, which has been aged for at least 6 years) and vintage, which has been aged for a longer period of time, as specified on the label. With that said I've found that Hennessey VSOP is smooth and easy on the palate. Found in most supermarkets, I would say in my opinion, this is the best supermarket brandy. Hennessey XO is even better but not available in most supermarkets unless the supermarket has a fine wine and spirits section (usually locked in a display case). Then we have the vintage and specialty brandy. The most expensive brandy I've seen is the $1,000,000 Mendis Cocount Brandy Bottle. Check it out on www.mendisbrandy.com References: www.ehow.com, www.mendisbrandy.com, and my own personal experience as a brandy (cognac) enthusiast.
Show cattle are the most expensive . but in terms of Market Colby Beef are the most expensive.
the most expensive is nuclear energy
The most expensive country is Monaco
whoever ages it most in its barrel. King louie is about the most expensive that i know of, and i believe it is somewhere in the 50 year region. That is of course, readily available liquor. I assume cognac gets better with age like a scotch, and some distilleries have really exclusive liquors, only available by vendors. I know of Johnny walker, makes a 65 year blue label, for about $35,000 a bottle.
