my northstar pool pump is making noise.I think it might need new bearings. How do I take the motor off./
I had a look to se if I could find a craster pool pump and had no luck however the impeller on every pool pump I have ever seen is in the impeller housing which is bolted straight against the motor.
Possibly you have a broken shaft or you may have a problem with the condensers that are needed to get the motor turning in the first place. These are usually situated in a little box on the top of the motor. A: No broken shaft. The "condenser" is called a capacitor. If you can remove the motor take it into your local pool store and they can check the motor and capacitor. You then will need a new pump seal and gasket once you get your motor from the repair shop. k
You should never run a swimming-pool pump dry! The most likely problem, from the rather flimsy evidence in your question hinting at it not rotating, is not with the pump or its motor but a fault in the electrical supply to the pool plant, or in the timer or other pump controller.

it has a threaded shaft and there is no way to reverse this motor. if the motor is reversed it will spin the impeler off the shaft and BREAK THE PUMP !. the only way to reverse it is to change the in and outlets.. The inlet should have a good source of water .. need more help just call 407 227 6079 have pictures of your pump ready your pool pump repair guy in longwood fl.
Most typical US residences have both 240 and 120 AC voltage. The pump would have to tie into a 240 volt breaker in your electric panel. To ensure safety have an electrician familiar with pool installations install the wiring and motor/pump and also make sure that the breaker is sized for the motor amperage rating. In many pool installations a separate electric panel will be installed outside near the pump and any pool electric devices.
Yes. the water will destroy the front bearing
Yes most pumps are alike aside from needing a little pipe work to make them fit.
If, and only if, the horsepowers are the same and the fittings are the same size, yes. Don't change the horsepower of your pump without changing your filter without consulting a professional.
The front bearing is going bad possibly from a pump seal leak or just age. Cheaper to replace the motor than to replace bearings. New motor will have a 1 yr warr.
