My 1997 Audi A6 windows won't roll up or down they only work sometimes?

Many times the wires break where they pass from the door into the car body. Unfortunately Audi did not use the best quality of wire for the constant flexing that occurd over the years as the drivers door is openen and close many times. There is a rubber sleeve that covers these wires. This is a good place to start the trouble shooting process with a visual inspection. Sometimes the conductors break inside of their insulation so look carefully and run ur hand over them.

There is no safety lock on the rear windows. They roll down that far for reason. The wheel well is in the way.

If one presses and holds the 'unlock' plipper the windows will wind down. I have had this occur a couple of times when I have been working on my other car - the Audi keys were in my trouser pocket and the button must somehow have been pressed and held as I bent over.

Not unless you don't shut down windows properly. Then you might mess it up. Sometimes after shutting down improperly it will slow down windows maybe a couple of times after you reboot but often it eventually "fixes itself"

I have a 1997 Ford Taurus with power windows and I can't get the windows to roll up What is the problem?
My rear passenger window sometimes gets stuck in the down position. To roll up the back window I need to SLAM shut driver side door really hard. The driver side door has the master panel for all windows. Sometimes the master switch button for the rear window gets stuck in the down position and by slamming the door it cause the back windows switch to pop up to it's normal position. This is only a temporary work around and does not fix the problem. My car is 1995 and I have doing this procedure for the past 2 years. It works for me and I no intention on getting it repaired permanently.
