Could be fuel pump, or the coil and module, I've changed both in the past year on my 03 cav, real expensive, real pain. good luck
Your missing spark or fuel.
Well yes and no. Both have a 2.2 four cylinder if I'm not mistaken, but I don't think the earlier Cavalier's have the EcoTec motor. And you should be able to get the engine from the '03 into the '97 with no problem.
The check engine light cannot be retrieved on a 1990 Cavalier unless a problem develops with the engine. The engine can be checked for errors, though, by using a tester that is plugged into the vehicle's computer.
A problem with the emission system. Need to have trouble codes checked.
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
Usually an indication of a problem within the emission control system Have the vehicle scanned to determine the problem
It means the ECU has detected a problem with the emissions controls. Seek out a professional.
Intermitent problem with emission control system - have vehicle scanned to determine problem
No, only a problem that effects emissions will set the check engine light.
will 2001 2.2 cavalier interchange engine parts with a 2000 cavalier
light should go off . if that was the problem, and is now fixed, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then reconnect battery this will reset the computer and remove the signal from the warning light if that doesnt work, there is a different problem apart from crankshaft sensor
check oil and oil pressure if good sell it
