If it is stuck in sleep mode just restart the computer by pressing the power button for 5-10 seconds. Then when the computer starts up make sure to go to your power options in control panel and disable all the sleep options. This wont fix the sleep problem but will prevent your computer from going into sleep in the first place. Commonly sleep issues occur when there is a program running that doesn't agree with being put in sleep mode and causes windows to crash.

You'll see both suns on the left side of your computer (at the top) Now, to increase the brightness: The smaller sun is to decrease the brightness. The bigger sun is to increase the brightness.
