My NYC residential lease contains a Temporary rent concession rider that is not written in layman's terms. Does this mean my preferential rent will not carry over to any renewal leases?

Also bear in mind that, if the rider contains any arrangement that does not comply with the law then you are not obligated to abide by that arrangement.
Landlords sometimes throw things into riders which things are non-enforceable because they don't comply with the law.
