My boyfriend won't tell me anything about his past and it's starting to get to me. How do I ask him in such a way that he might tell me a few things?

look for clues maybie something bad happened in his past just tell him you care and youll be there for him that you wanna help him.if he still doesnt wanna tell you then say "fine i respect what happened but if you cant be honest and tell me whats going on then how am i supposed to know you trust me?"
