My friend says she will be 15 this year and her birthday is on July 18th. My other friend says she will be turning 14 and her birthday is on July 27. we are all in the same grade. Who is right?

It all depends on what year they were born. Im going to be 14 this year too but afew of my friends (WHO ARE IN THE SAME GRADE AS ME) are turning 13 and one of them is turning 15.

It depends on your state's cut-off date for beginning kindergarten (meaning the child must be 5 years old by that date to start). Each state is different. In some states, the cut-off date is as early as August or September, so in that case, a child with a September birthday is among the oldest in his/her grade, and will already be turning 8 by the time they are starting 2nd grade. Other states have cut-off dates as late as October, November, or even December, so kids with September birthdays are some of the youngest in the grade. That would mean that the child would be just turning 7 at the start of 2nd grade, or could even be 6 for a couple months before turning 7.
