Purchase a can of spray carburetor cleaner and clean all the linkage and moving parts. Do not use WD40 or similar product. If this does not help you may need to clean the internal parts inside the plenum with an approved cleaner. Also look for obstructions inside the car near the linkage.

if you look under the dash at your brake pedal if automatic trans,and if its standard look at the clutch pedal and look for the switch,this is not a hard job to do but it will take patience.
You need a new battery. The same exact problem just happened to me in my 2002 jeep grand cherokee. The computer in the vehicle wont let it run unless it is getting a high amount of voltage from the battery. When you replace the battery, the problem should be fixed.
A short in the brake light circuit.
There should be a contact switch just in front of the brake pedal up under the dash panel.

Turn the ignition on, engine off. Press the gas pedal to the floor three times in 10 seconds.
If it cuts out at idle or when your foot is off the gas pedal, its the Idle Air Control sensor.
